@Pcm I would actually argue that (counter to my own point), while there may be many that are scared of these changes, some may not be. We see Gil note that the west frankly has issues with inheritance, and I an imagine if this is akin to a chivalric, medieval Europe- issues of class or race also possibly are present. So for many looking at the west, which is a unified pack without abandonment, that can probably be very intriguing. I could even see a scene at the border regions of a father or a son of a household being converted, realizing his family's outlook right now isn't all that great, and seeking to change their fortunes. Perhaps they even know at first their family will be scared, and they dislike this- for there is nothing to be afraid of in their minds, but they know change is a uneasy thing to get used to, especially something this drastic- but they also know the future benefits outweigh the costs in the here and now. Again, there's that ethical dilemma. Though I can imagine they'd likely be very convincing. Others might change because they realize as horrible becoming something else is, between the demons and bestfolk, getting trampled over by either doesn't seem appealing either- so might as well choose the group that seems- a little less unhinged (the beast folk have a functioning society- it would likely take much longer for the demons to cobble something up due to focusing on excess for the sake of excess). However, I can also see many living very lonely lives, or fleeing to remote areas to keep themselves and their families safe. To make matters worse, I could see these individuals visited or haunted by the ghosts of those they did see turn (because while they come to like it in the end, the initial process is rather terrifying to witness I can believe)....or those they knew that have turned find them- seeking out their loved ones. A common them in transformative work is how humans are turned into something else- but as we see with Daniel- you don't need to change your shape to wind up changing internally. A transformed individual seeking out somebody they knew from before and finding them shattered with loss and grief and coping in less than ideal ways would be interesting to ponder- the conversion at this point is not only out of the self-benefiting desire to have your loved ones with you, but also to actually save their life- grief and isolation can cause harm to health if not coped with properly and can even act as a slow killer in a sort of ways. I can already imagine a converted individual seeking out somebody they knew- a lover or a friend or a family member- eking out a lonely existence near the sea or in the mountains- and seeking to convince them- they don't want to force them because they know if they do they will likely simply kill themselves (the grief stricken person in this case keeps a means by which to end their life on their person at all times- poison or such.) I can see some very religious easterners possibly seeing conversion as a fate worse than death and possibly initiating mass suicide of themselves and their families- something they'd frown against but as things get worse- they become more desperate to stay human- to the horror of those who do wind up converted and try to find them to convert those they know.). I can already imagine a scene where a converted beastfolk runs back home to find his family- only to find them dead in their beds, or swinging by the noose- with a letter detailing their final thoughts. In the worst cases, this would likely involve young and old- with all the implications therein. At worst, Daniel might order in some cases where the situation is too far gone for those humans still remainig to either flee- and if they can't- ensure they won't be able to join either the demons or the beast folk to avoid rising their numbers. I can easily see him pivot to this as he grows increasingly isolated and desperate. And well...as for the knights- perhaps a similar thing can ensue. I'd love to see how they could try to "convert" people in the verbal sense- convincing them. Perhaps by showing them that the chivalry they practice in principle in the east is not even adherent to the law that is in many cases (this is how I feel Ruby would be convinced taking your she got converted head canon- that their compassion is to some extent two faced- that while some may perhaps be sincere in it, most are not- I think if Ruby was converted, Duke Aigles's fate and why what happened as per the perspective of Rudolf and the others would be crucial- it'd be closure she desperately needs to some extent- even Gil admits that Aigles didn't seem like a bad person- though he doesn't dwell on that much for obvious reasons- it would likely cause too much dissonance and he likely assumes he had to die due to outside factors (more primal beast manipulation at work) or he said that to pacify Ruby. I can already see it- a small teatime room where Gil and Ruby speak to one another, in a game of words- with Gil trying to get Ruby over to make Rudolf happy, and Ruby learning some uncomfortable truths as to how the East was not always perfect, amongst other things while desperately trying to stay human as she is seen in a gilded cage- while the shadow of what she had with Rudolf haunting in the background- and the question of if she can have that again. It'd be a diplomatic affair, a desire to see somebody close to a loved one with them again, and also learning how to trust somebody who you think betrayed you- or would have- I find it fascinating that while they don't agree with Ruby, I think all of them respect her dedication). As you see I am already entirely too obsessed with Rudolf and Ruby's dynamic to some extent. I probably shouldn't be. In that vein perhaps what many desire to practice can be found....in the west. We already saw that diplomat get turned, likely more followed in the years to come. The outcast, the terminally ill, and those who are stricken with poverty or victim to anti-western sentiments, or seeking to free themselves from any possibly socially induced repressions in the west (economic, social or gender oriented etc)- would likely see the west not as horrible, but a new opportunity. And as horrible as they are to their enemies...well technically that army daniel was in likely was going to go scorched earth on Wolfheim if it had the numbers or once they got said numbers- it was a matter of survival. I can't blame them for that. Though I can't blame Daniel for how he thinks either- though he navigated through that in the worst way possible by treating Collin less than stellar. The fact of the matter is that Daniel is likely going to become increasingly ruthless and less desirable to follow- essentially, he might try preserving humanity so harshly in intensity it'll wind up backfiring upon his own goal- in that post-apocalyptic outline I wrote, I envisioned Daniel somehow figuring out how to control reincarnation cycles (or having enough knowledge to know how to preserve one's memories and the body one goes into- think test tube babies or some kind of dubious mad science), and becoming a kind of dictatorial king over the surviving humans- living perhaps in bunkers or areas they had scoped out earlier ruling with an iron fist and rather cruelly- excusing oppressive actions as being necessary for humanity's survival- the way I thought about how that apocalypse could start was Daniel in his desperation essentially formulating a magical WMD/nuke perhaps when it seemed all was lost the demon insurgency, and it essentially doing it's job...a little too well- ruining the balance of magical energies in the world by kicking off a runaway chain reaction. The dusk could in this hypothetical would overpower the weapon entirely out of spite- if it can't win- nobody will, seeing that humanity had abandoned the dawn's mercy, so they will receive it's wrath instead. In this blasted out world, humanity winds up scarce in number, but for those that survived with resources, opportunity is plenty- intelligence winds up becoming an even greater asset than strength in some cases- figuring out how to grow food with little light, purifying water, ground stabilization- all these and other matters would be important. I actually find it wonderful that more high fantasy principles can be discussed in context of the cosmology of your work. Your idea that the current ago of dawn and dusk is ending for something new seems reminiscent to the ages in elden ring. In that sense, Gil took on the role of the tarnished, and assisted in setting the stage for a new age...as William and Gregory are as well. But that comes with consequences...good or ill. I tend to go with the idea of balance, but ages ending and starting also is an interesting way to phrase it. I do look forward to see how beastfolk society works- as much as slightly am annoyed by Gil now- rereading the chapter I can see why he was so angry at collin- family is important to him- of course he is infuriated- though he really went a little overboard with that promise of his so I want him to get inconvenienced (what can I say, I've grown attached to William and the others as well). Yet I find it ironic that Collin in some ways was in Gil's position when he did what he did- using the very themes of this story against them- they are like shades in a mirror- similar yet distinct.

Fuck I love the concept, hope to see some more of these (or a continuation, both would be great) :)

Maybe I missed it, but I don’t think Tyler ever told Joe and Noah that Ryley’s cum is addicted. They only have a majority vote by one, so my prediction is Joe or Noah will accidentally make the error or becoming Ryley’s cum addict and tip the scale in Brian’s favour. I’m thinking this because Noah said Joe was addicted to his cock, which might be foreshadowing. I’m guessing Joe will become addicted to Ryley’s cock and Brian will use and abuse that which will break Noah’s spirit (or worse). But I’m also not worried about Javi’s physical body being an issue. The wording of the wish was that Javi COULD (not must) create a human body for himself, therefore implying Javi could uncreate it at a moments notice. With the omnipresent powers of knowing Brian’s scheme, Javi will know the moment something goes south and can just pop its body out of existence. All Tyler’s wish did was give Javi the ability to create a physical body for itself, not tie itself to a new physical body.
