First of props to @copsboy64 for theorizing, I didnt even catch that Maelstrom information that was off, so yeah ty for your attention to detail! I, ok, this is kind of summarizing my previous thoughts on Dusk, as well as adding in information talking with Neon Demon: A lot of the story so far has subtle themes of balance. From how it is freeing to be constrained in latex, to the good actions that Master does (whom admitted to be a supervillain), as well as the balanced magical system. Too much usage of overpowered magic results in very severe consequences. Each "side" is morally ambivalent, and has done either bad actions or has an ultimately evil intention. With that theme in mind, I have a theory that Midnight's Symbiote and Jamie's Symbiote (Dusk/DS-005 and Daybreaker/DS-013) are either developed from each other, or are linked much more closely than the other drones have in common. For one, both of their powers and colours are reversals of each other. The dichotomy of the explosive light and the coiling tendrils of shadow is just so nicely planned out. Additionally, the fact that Dusk continuously chooses to be close to Jamie, to feel Jamie, and to nudge him further along to become a Drone coincides with the tidbit that DS-005 is excited/anticipating that Jamie will soon activate his symbiote even outside of Master's latex embrace. Maybe the idea of "different generations" of drones can come into play? DT-X vs DT-163, a parallel could be DS-005 and DS-013? It could make sense, but only Time can unravel the mysteries inside of this awesome and intricately planned out story. . .

@[temporaryhotsaucetofu](/user/show/10034005) Interesting theory, thst. On the balance part, I can see it. On the symbiote thing, that seems improbable, but given the surprises we've gotten in this story, not impossible. It would have to be Jamie's symbiote somehow born from Dusk's though, because Dusk has had his symbiote somewhere between 1 and 2 years at the opening moments of the story, where Jamie just got his. So until proven otherwise, I'm going with Occam's razor and the simplest explanation here - just plain old mutual attraction. From Dusk's end, I suspect Midnight developed feelings for Jamie, but couldn't act on them because most of the time they were together in the League, Jamie was too young for him to act on those feelings. And by the time Jamie was old enough, Midnight was well into his downward spiral. It's telling that one of Dusk's first interactions with Jamie was basically a low level sexual assault. He didn't have to do that to subdue him, and it might even have been counterproductive to his goal of bringing Jamie in. On Jamie's side, the attraction would have started with his old hero worship of Midnight, which may have become a little more as their friendship developed. But again, to the extent that he may have developed any feelings beyond hero worship, he would have been too young and unsure of himself to act on them. Then there's the fact that in their first encounter, Jamie thinks of Dusk as being "hotter," implying that he thought Midnight was hot to begin with.

@[Nocturne13](/user/show/263497) Thank you. I really struggle with keeping them short but I do enjoy them when they are.

This Chapter is mostly exposition. As with preceding pieces of exposition in this masterpiece, it raises as many questions as it answers, or more. So: Goliath - he's been a bit player so far, but he is really starting to intrigue me. First, I don't buy that it was a blow from Maelstrom that made him retire, especially since his power allows him to greatly reduce the impact of blows. We also get the Intel that it was Valour who ultimately took down Maelstrom, and between the two, I'd say that Goliath has the stronger powers. So I think that Maelstom blow was just the cover story given to the lesser heroes and the World. I believe Goliath's problem was basically the same as Horizon's and Midnight's, with the addition that he knew more about the extent of the League's corruption, and likely even had taken part in it.. Or maybe, like Midnight, he balked, and left because of irreconcilable differences. And when, precisely did his conversion take place? Given that he's DS-003, it has to be sometime between 2 and 6 years ago. And how willing was he? Minotaur - It was good to get confirmation that Minotaur too is now one of Master's superdrones. It leads me to speculate that the "what he deserved" Dusk refers to is a deliberate betrayal by Midnight/Dusk that led directly to his capture and dronification. This could also go into the level of trust between Master and Dusk. It is also a very fitting response to what Midnight could only have seen as a betrayal of both good and himself personally by his mentor. DT-X and DH-X - the revelation that some, probably all, types of drone have a head drone is a neat insight into the structure and hierarchy of Master's organization. Is there a separate DS-X, or is that Master? Onyx - his role of bringing in new drones is very interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing him at work. Given Horizon's ability to teleport latex onto someone, I imagine he could be a lot of help with this. Then there's Onyx being such a brat. He seems to have more leeway in how he treats and interacts with Master than any other drone. But it also appears that this is only because Master enjoys it. Luxor - how will Master's targeting of him proceed, and will it succeed? Given that he can burn away latex on his body, he's going to have to be caught unawares when it goes on, either asleep or knocked out. And what was up with his uncharacteristic huffing of Valour's jock? It almost certainly has something to do with his latex speck. My guess is that it was a test by Master to see if he could exert influence over Luxor through that speck of latex. More to come, but this is enough for now.
