In my opinion, the entire story should be first person, or 3rd person. Or at least the first person narrator should have whole sections that are visually delineated from the 3rd person sections. Being primarily third person but occasionally shifting to a first person narrator for single lines embedded within the 3rd person text is not an effective use of first person.

You've received a lot of well earned praise for how hot this story is but I'd like to really expound on how good this is from a mystery standpoint. I'm a massive fan of Paranormal Government Investigator stories and this is doing an excellent job of being one even aside from being quite kinky. A good mystery will have it's audience pondering things from the moment they start reading. But it goes further than that because their theories change as they learn more about the workings of the story. I just binged the whole thing in the bath and over the course of reading it I had to adjust my expectations four or five times. Initially I suspected it was a house that had been made by a magician and the servants were not ghosts but artificial spirits that could use magic related their specified role. Then I thought perhaps it was a more kinky demonic or fae styled location. When we got to the statues I began suspecting something a bit more high concept. I considered the house might be occupied by the ghosts of kings, divinely empowered, to make sense of their abilities and their control of their Master, since royalty is, in some cultures at least, the "servants" of their subjects. My last two seem most plausible. I suspected perhaps the house was itself a fallen gods body given the emphasis on its organic parts and the staff were parts of its consciousness and power made manifest as it tried to recuperate. Now I suspect the house is rather a converted temple of some sort, where ancient super homoerotic gods were worshiped in general, and the servants are the remnants of those fallen gods, once more eager to reclaim their power. The "Theoplasm" mentioned a chapter or two back would seem to support that. Still cant figure out how the earliest Master fits in though. oh, unless he discovered those statues, brought them to his home and it was converted into their temple there by reviving them? Or maybe I'm entirely wrong and all of that is nonsense. But the point is you made me think about this story critically, and that's not just a well written work, that's good writing, so bravo. I, like many others, look forward to more in time :)

I love this story. I really, really do, but I would fucking kill to get a longer sex scene between JD and the Boss. I need some of those amazing details! Please!
