@FeedYourHead - Glad you liked the interpretation! @AClosetBear - You're welcome. I struggle with it too sometimes, and especially around sex and 'gay culture' areas. You're not alone.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate the love! It's so amazing how great the audience is on this site. @ Hypnothrill; I didn't initially plan to write a sequel for this story since I wasn't sure what the reception for this would be like, but its most DEFINITELY a possibility. I can see two follow up story ideas for this installment for sure. @ Frara; I agree that there aren't many Muslim stories here and I'm glad I wrote one. I tried to do as much research as I can so that I can portray the religion as well as I could. I hope I did a good job. @BankStreet; thanks for the compliment, but may I ask why you have a problem with the name Xavier? I did my best to do the research and pick the most authentic Persian names I could and 'Xavier' is definitely a legit name. Is it the meaning of the name that you have issues with? Apparently Xavier means 'bright' or 'new house' in Arabic and I don't see why that would be a problem.

Great story. However, I had a problem with a Muslim character named "Xavier"!

Having something like F9 whisper in one's ear so sweetly while the rest of the earth goes a little strange seems like one of the sweetest forms of apocalypse. I liked the blending of genres that occurs in the interrogation room - *especially* the wallet aspect, which wraps up that open question so neatly - along with, well, every other aspect of this. Super job!

Look, we all know Nu's a fantastic writer, right? But this one is just a cut above the rest. The seamless, *extremely obvious* memory/reality change that's nevertheless totally undetectable to our protagonist, the outside interference that gets patched over in the most hilarious fashion possible... revisiting this story is a joy! I can't help but theorise about a sequel (what happens when the time runs out? Does our plucky protagonist suspect Jake of somehow managing a nefarious switcheroo, resulting in a Heist Into Hell?), but this stands on its own as a great work. Stellar!

I often revisit this story - it's one of my favourite TF fics ever written. The ripple effect changes, the scrambling oblivious mental justifications - it's all *chef's kiss* perfect. I admit I'm not a huge fan of the 'r' word, but it's being told from the perspective of a character who's a dickhead, so - fair enough! The BEEP BEEP modifications have certainly informed some of my own writing, too! Really, this story is just a great job all 'round. Fantastic work.
