You raise good points, Hypnothrill, but I think it's pretty clear that what Lane decides to do ISN'T a good idea. *He* may think so, but it doesn't make it right; the fact that he enslaves Dylan and puts off freeing him ("yeah, someday, someday") suggests that he's selfish in a different way than Todd was; the latter was super-selfish, but Lane, in his eagerness to "fix" things, just automatically assumes that his opinion of making things better is right without considering if it actually IS. Kind of a condescending "I know what's best, so we're going to do this my way"--white liberalism. :p Like many people, I was initially so thrilled to see Todd lose that I didn't really stop to think about the implications...and then the more I thought about it, the more I realized that Lane was still robbing people of their free will, controlling their diets, trying to make policy changes, etc.; it's just that he did so in a "nice" way, so it seems better. But it's NOT better...I think that is part of what makes the ending so effective, that the *reader themself* is tricked into going along with Lane's agenda. :O The best kind of propaganda is the one that makes you agree with it, right?...I don't think Swizzington is endorsing the view that hypnosis is better than free will, either. To be honest, I kind of like that we couldn't see any of Lane's character flaws in the final half of the story, or at least see why they weren't a focus--because he was being hunted down like a dog. If one of his high-speed escapes or chases had been interrupted with a scene of "Gee, if I had this kind of power, I would use it to run for political office!" I'd have said "There are literally people trying to trap you in chains right now, and THIS is what you're thinking about? WHY?" The second half of the story was really more of a suspense tale than anything else, and suspense tales don't exactly lend themselves to characters planning for the future; they have to deal with the here and now immediately (I think about Dan Brown, who will interrupt a chase scene with a lengthy flashback explaining how the name "Mona Lisa" is actually a secret coded reference to Egyptian gods of fertility; yeah, it's INTERESTING, but it pulls me out of the story so fast that I lose my place). As for your points, Kyle, I don't think it was really Lane who "bested" Todd--Chester's tech protected him, then Dylan got him to escape, and it was Chester's tech again that recruited Nathan (both Nathans, actually) and then THOSE Nathans who took down Todd. If anything, it makes Lane seem like more of an opportunist, who happily takes credit for other's work--another negative quality that shows up in the ending, when he has Andrew run for office and hides behind the scene. I think that Lane, unlike a lot of protagonists, is that kind of sneaky manipulator, who has other people do his work for him. It's a unique take! As for the running around/almost getting caught, I again think this is best understood as a suspense story, not an erotic one (or a mix of the two). We accept the protagonists getting out of jams and just-avoiding capture because that's what makes it exciting! :D If Lane had gotten caught right away, the build-up would not have worked. That's what I think, at least! :D

@The Grower: Thank you for reading my story. You're entitled to your opinion, but I have to disagree with you on nycboot's potential ending to Bargain. I don't see nycboot as being so dismissive of wishbone blue's work as you do; I think he, just like myself, is a fan of the original series and will try to do it justice. Plus how he reacted to Slave Academy should not be taken as how he reads Bargain. If anything, I should think you take it as an exercise of completing the uncompleted work. If it is a good ending, then you can read it with the original story; if it doesn't then see it as an not so good attempt to finish the work. But coming in with a prejudice towards nycboot based on a reaction to a different story seems rather small-minded.

Okay, you finally got me to give straight 5's. Tickling and/r uncontrollable laughter is one of my biggest turn-ons in stories like these and I almost never see it on GSS. Keep it up, my friend!

@Hypnothrill: I didn't like it either. To be honest, I wasn't too giddy with the second half of this entire series, as I was already checked out by chapter 5 or so. I already mentioned about how I dislike Lane as a character, but I also dislike that its HIM that gets to take down all of the major players in the series. I feel its because Lane is such a late comer into the game and not involved in the action at all that it just feels so jarring that it gets to be him that bested Todd. On top of that, Lane had been spending the past how many chapters running around and almost getting caught that it required a lot of suspension of belief to believe that he would have so many close calls. I also feel like there was a lot of events in this series that feels way too convenient and contrived just to force this ending into existence. I didn't want to express this on the comments since there are people who genuinely enjoyed this ending and I didn't want to ruin it for them, but this finale was such a slap in the face for me. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's unsatisfied with this ending. I probably shouldn't be as affected by this as I am, but I was so fully invested in the original series that its such an insult that everything played out this way. The concept of the telepaths being used as tools would've been such a turn on for me and I was here for it, but even that was executed so badly. The mindscapes, which I repeatedly mentioned was my favorite in this series, felt half assed in the finale as well. So sorry to say that this is not your best work, Swizz. And I don't care if everything gets reversed back in the Mr. Zeiss series, I feel like the damage might be too great for me to continue on in that series. I think I'm done with the Slave Academy universe.

I was reading pretty quickly, so it's possible I missed some of the nuances of your story, Swizzington. But one of the things I really liked about the early chapters is how they clearly displayed Lane's character flaws. By the later chapters, however, I felt like you were stacking the deck to get us to sympathize with him and to rationalize his decision (for instance, by highlighting the trauma that Lane's father undergoes after he's freed from mind control). And you should definitely check out Topaz172's "Various Techniques" (https://mcstories.com/VariousTechniques/index.html) and its sequel "Talon's Claws" as soon as possible. It's one of the true classics of the genre!
