Thank you for returning to the origination of your story in bringing back Nathan to the fore. Although the real Nathan is still struggling, you previously dropped two major hints about him: 1) of all the telepaths in the story, Nathan is the only one who was able to accomplish it without physical touch - as observed by Dylan. Thus, of all of them, Nathan is the strongest. Todd obviously knows this, which is why he tries to keep Nathan closest to him. I'm wondering why the real Nathan is not summoning those powers. Perhaps he's too inexperienced. (Then again, it often seems to be the nature of much fiction and film that the audience knows more than the characters and are constantly thinking "You idiot! Just do xyz and your troubles will be solved!") 2) Although you were very sympathetic to Nathan at the outset, the style of your writing strongly suggests you are most partial to Dylan. Perhaps I'm projecting from my experience from such people: they are always rebels, always non-conforming. Even though he was under Todd's spell, at this point he's a bit too washed out. Am I right in thinking that you were referencing your Good Boy story when you wrote this passage: "The first rule of being a good boy, is to always, always obey your master's instructions" ?

So I looked over chapter 10 of the original SA to see if I was going crazy. It was never stated that they *couldn't* undo Nathan's situation, and it was never my intention to give the reader that idea. Dylan does say it is necessary to create a new personality in order for Nathan's body to function, that is true, but that doesn't necessarily imply that he can't free him. He just chose not to, in order to ensure Nathan's obedience going forward. The alternative would be to free him and continue mind battling, and it was not in Dylan's interests to do that at the time, so they just left him there :-) Hopefully that clarifies things for you!

Its been a while since I read the last Slave Academy, but wasnt there a section where Todd felt remorse that the real Nathan got stuck as a petrified statue and Dylan had that explanation saying he can't restore him since the telepath are the only ones capable of undoing their magic or something like that? So thats why the alternative was to create a new personality for Nathan so that hes just not a shell I don't know, my memories could just be really hazy on this but I'll reread the last series's finale again and reconfirm

Hello Kyle Chu. What made you think that Dylan couldn't restore Nathan? I don't remember where I said that in the story.

Maybe this was for the best, we lost Dylan but he is dosed at the moment so that’s only Nathan to deal with (and handicapped since he fighting for control), since the first set of Glasses can only deal with a telepath at once it may works on Lane’s favor if he somehow manages to earn enough time for the glasses to recharge. And Lane still has the second pair of glasses, but I don’t think they will be useful on Chester, they’re cornered and with no cover, get Chester back could only do so little for Lane at the current moment, If he uses those on Chester that could end really bad... Edit: forgot to mention it; but these “normal scenario” mindscapes turning into mind controlling traps are just amazing I think the final scene with Dylan swaying and singing his free will away was pretty hot
