I never presume to tell a writer what to write. After all, it's his story. But I totally agree with the "no happy endings" comment. The surest way to lose me as a reader is to make the hero break the spell the villain has over him. I can read those kind of stories anywhere. A good hypno / brainwashing story means their minds remain under their enslaver's control for good. Isn't that what the whole fetish is all about?

So far so good. I hope the villain's name means there will be spirals involved. And I know Superman is the focus but I also hope Batman, Robin, Cap & Tarzan aren't all brainwashed just yet. I'd like for Superman to see just one of others' transformation from hero to clown before he succumbs too. And please NO happy endings! MC must prevail!

How about something along the lines of the 1994 Robert A. Henlein sci-fi movie The Puppet Masters? Another idea: something along PupScout's excellent The Submarine. On a non-sci-fi track, what about an adaptation of MM Good's To Serve Their Country (mcstories.com)?

Well written transformation story. There was a long build up through the stages of descent from unemployment, to the progression of the pot smoking, the unemployment collection process, leaving the first apartment and going uptown to the cheaper, more dangerous neighborhoods, to the falling away of his personality, to the new structure of blue collar work and bodybuilding. Quite a transition. Jake facilitated it, but I don't think he caused it. The cause here is not the point - it was more the process. Good story!
