A website with the phrase "mind control" in its name is probably an unlikely place to post this link, but it feels relevant to this discussion thread. Worth a thought -- and I don't think being a decent positive person necessarily prohibits one from indulging in the odd bit of revenge fantasy fiction now and then. :) Say goodbye to being a mean gay, it’s time to cheer each other on "If your friends don’t shine, you don’t shine, and the brighter their light shines, the more that glow will reflect upon you." http://attitude.co.uk/say-goodbye-to-being-a-mean-gay-its-time-to-cheer-each-other-on/

I'm in love with this story. This could easily be adapted into a screenplay.

I wonder if a better response to the people acting like you're a monster for not being gay "correctly" or "politically" enough would be to do the opposite sort of story. Have a really outwardly "queer" guy change into more of a jock type-- in his head having what he thinks expresses his sexuality just turn into working out, sports, other sort of "stereotypically straight" activities, but he sees them as quintessential to himself as a still gay dude. Not some kind of "make everything queer! Fuck the breeders! Throw glitter in face of Dan Savage!" Type that just creates more divisiveness. I've had more ridicule from other gay people about how I am not being gay properly by not being a flaming drag queen than I've ever gotten from straight people for my sexuality. And, hell, it really fuckin sucks to have the oppressed group you're a part of declare you're not welcome because of being "straight acting" and "lying to myself" for not being swishy -- when I'm not "straight acting" I'm just myself. But apparently the outward signifiers are the important thing to a lot of folks.
