@Pcm If the desire for pleasure is hard wired then yes the name of the game for rehabilitation would be figuring out how to channel that desire without it going out of control. Hard challenge, but that's the objective. Using cognitive understandings in regards to authentic and false pleasure (what is artificially induced) may work in that regard, but maybe not. It may be more prevention and management than full cure. Leon's integration of his knightly ideals into demknhood opens up the question of if other individuals like him exist, and if they become a faction within the demons- not in opossition, but somewhat different. But I don't think it's impossible- garret and Collins debate showcases a much more complicated thought process with the demons, despite their sinister aspects. It would essentially be like the tea time scenario I mentioned with gil and ruby, except now it would be Collin trying to do the convincing. Any area they were held in (the demons) would need to be fortified and enchanted like nothing else though. Your example with William is interesting because I can see how Collin could use that shift to potentially get William less affected by demonization. If Collin had managed to get them not executed for healing and observation, he could easily ask if pleasure is what matters, and that's because it helps other people...why has William forgotten that? If that's a major part of him, why is it slowly going missing? Even despite the demons being pleasure addicted, the fact remains that as you've mentioned, the new method of conversion changes things about a person but not their core desires. Yet here as mentioned, Williams core desires are shifting- something that seems by design. He already likely sees it as a gift, but that mention of shift by Collin may throw him off kilter. William of course would probably still try to seduce Collin and try to verbally counter by pointing out eastern regressions, but Collin could easily turn that around and accept that point but also state that while that's an issue, unbridled hedonism isn't the answer considering its implications, and repeatthat despite William having pleasure, he seems to have lost something in exchange. If ship travel isn't possible, I assume most trade and travel is done on land? If so, that likely means beastfolk may have snuck in as merchants in the east, and it means that trade routes overland may be present too. At the same time, with the beastfolk tensions, such would mean the east is essentially besieged on two fronts and probably not doing all that well economically...which probably only benefits the demons further as they can convince more people as many are likely potentially poverty stricken or being taken advantage of by nobility if said nobles are corrupt.

@[Anon](/user/show/10049352) Here's the thing, demons have become horrifyingly adept at perverting every any kind of individual, not into abandoning who they were, but twisting their identity to fir the new demonic state of being. Leon is just one example, and perhaps an extreme one. Gregory, being another example, also has his identity rooted around being a good father to his sons. After his demonification, he still very much wants to be a good father to them, but his underdtanding of what fatherhood is has been shifted into incestupus one. There are many more cases of good men becoming demonized like this. Your methos of rehabilitation certainly is interesting. However, the major question (aside from the mechanism to prevent mind controlling abiligy of the demons) would be that, like you said, while the demons are intellectually aware that what they are doing is wrong, they are too far gone to care, the only thing that matters is their pleasure and perhaos making their loved ones feel the "same" kind of pleasure they are feeling, being mindless bliss. It is their new way of loving them. It would still be a nightmare for Collin. could he trust William not to go back to being corrupted the first opportunity given the chance and finding a way to take Collin with him? In his new state of mind, this infernal pleasure is something he has to share with Collin, whether or not Collin would even want it or if it would harm him. After all, corruoting Collin has become his way of loving him, to neglect spreading that pleasure would be denying his poor brother demonic love. Yes. There is the far South and other nations, but the Kingdom is mostly self sufficient, being majorly an agarian country. There is minimal contact with the outside world. The North would likely be the safest place to escape to.
