This was freaking HOT! Love it! I'm imagining a world swept up in a colourful jockie briefs wave! The women of the world would fill all the jobs left behind as the men would be busy fulfilling the needs of the brief!

@Pcm I think that your depiction of Gil and Collin in their essence is fitting- and striking. Gil ultimately did have to deal with anti-eastern sentiment, but did have a rather privileged life in other ways. And more importantly- he truly does believe that the western ways are better with egalitarian inheritance and lack of societal repression- we see him discuss this in the last chapter of his story with Ruby. In his mind, those of the wolf are right about things, and so why should they not have power? Why should they not be above the others? That which gives him love and joy should naturally be spread about after all. Not to mention, the westerners were those who accepted him- why would he go elsewhere? I kind of see in him a darker version of Jon Snow at times- though that does make sense as you've mentioned Gil and his brothers were modelled off of Jon and Robb. Collin on the other hand is driven by his compassion for others- even the enemy- we see that even Garret of all people is respectful of Collin's morality to an indirect degree- saying that most people are not like him, the sufferings he has endured, his sorrow over his family, and his grief over feeling inadequate for his duties. Collin wishes to help people, but as you've said- the doctrine he has learnt often has him helping people to the point of harming himself. If Gil is driven by loyalty and love to family, Collin is driven by compassion and grief. I don't think Collin's life being in devotion to others to help them is bad on it's own- but what is bad is how he's being essentially used to do that with no consideration for his own health. The grandmaster is understandably traumatized after what happened to him (I can't even blame him even though I want him to get knocked down a peg- what's mentioned that he went through in the epilogue of Gil's story was horrific, and he likely has very complicated thoughts about Gil.), but his "needs of the many over the few" approach- while understandable- has come with many less than ideal costs and ironically might have only strengthened the severity of this current demon outbreak by leaving many susceptible to it, even more than normal. The demons, as you've said- ultimately are something completely different to the native gods of the planet- and change people to be in their image. I was taking a more heraldric/folklore/theological imagery view of it, but what you've said makes sense. Between the mind alterations and general despair and emotional attacks, it's not surprising most would succumb. The demons in this are terrifying as they are effective, and it makes sense that as they represent a full divestment away from eastern ideals, there would be no preservation of eastern looks. The knights taking pleasure to ease the pain also makes sense. As for the prisoner, they clearly seem to have run afoul of the beast tribes. But what concerns me is that if nobody knows that they were there- something tells me they might not be entirely human- or some spirit related matters are going on. Whatever they are, they may be a prelude for very bad news- they may not be bad- but a harbinger of something bad. The grandmaster's idea of a zombie army is likely going to backfire horribly- this might be my own cultural upbringing talking, but generally it's usually assumed if you're trying to talk to the dead, it's far more likely you'll be dealing with a spirit that wants to mess with you at best...or make your life a living nightmare at worst. You could potentially talk to the dead in dreams (as it's often held that in sleep the soul comes out and is akin to death in a lesser way), or virtuous people, but that's seen as rare at times (though not impossible). More likely, a spirit might be conning you, or you'd have to interrogate the "dead soul" to see if they are who they say they are. Though, it'd be funny if the beastfolk and the demons have to deal with a zombie apocalypse they can't stop. That'd be fun (fun in the sense that they'd now have to deal with a horror they can't fight- they deserve to have to deal with some trouble). Bonus points if the grandmaster loses control of the undead and it just spirals (kind of like the white walkers and their wights). I think what is significant about the demons is that the necromancer king mentions the native gods don't want to convert everybody by design. The demons have no such reservation. In that, they fundamentally are a threat to the established order of things of the native eldritch beings. They likely won't take to the demon's messing the order of things up lying down (if the demons convert everybody than the established order the necromancer king mentions would fall apart). Worse still, if the demons can convert people that have already been converted- well that would be a nightmare situation overall. If Gregory and the others manage to convert Gil's grandson (the prince that Collin averted from transforming)- it will likely be war as a result between the east and west. It's entirely likely that the other gods might start looking at how to contain the demons so their own domains aren't taken over. If Collin's power has less restriction than those of the dawn the question is how far does it go. As we can tell, even with Garret- even if he regained his human form- he still is inherently demonic in thinking now- though not entirely malevolent- the desire for pleasure can lead down dark paths. If he can weaponize this to his advantage- it may be a great boon for him- and one he desperately needs. Between the demon outbreaks and the beastfolk, Collin is being closed in on by all sides. I only hope his lover doesn't wind up getting into trouble in the east....and even if Gregory winds up fulfilling his vow to take down the king and his sons- it's likely he'd wind up in a pickle all his own. The other gods likely won't just silently watch while this happens... and who knows what the dusk might attempt. I think ultimately Collin's life experiences will define how he reacts to things going forward- but one thing I think is clear- I don't think he'll be swayed by his pain to just surrender to pleasure- I think he'll fight through everything all the same. His duties to the people may be slightly unhealthy at times, but he has shown no desire to rid himself of them. And personally, I don't think he will. As for the necormancy army, if this is more just puppetting corpses, it might not be a bad idea. But if this putting a spirit or essence in to control the body- that I think has the potential to go wrong very fast.

@Anon Necromancy in this sense is about animation of the body mainly, so the matter of the soul is not usually involved. The native primordial gods are not impartial to the demons' meddling...but what they will do about it is another question. The Abyss does not care as long as the demons keep out of the ocean. The Eldritch Arboreum is not sentient enough to care. The Primal Beast? His reaction will be shown. The Dusk? Where is He anyway? Collin will certainly put up a fight, but would his effort yield reward remains to be seen. It would be tragic if something bad happened to Eddie, wouldn't it? Collin's power allows him to cure most perceived affliction, but without resorting to mind controlling dark magic, he can do little to change the mind of people who have become addicted to demonic pleasure. Just FYI, the Order of Holy Dawn is controlled by the Crwon, with tge King acting as the de jure Grandmaster. He is a knight by virtue of his inherited position. What that does mean is an interesting question. The Order of Sacred on the other hand is an independent organization with its own Grandmaster.

It's a little ironic. This all started because of the Grandmaster's actions. He decided to fake Collin's death in an attempt to protect him from the Wolf King and his family, and by extension protect the kingdom and the Order of the Holy Dawn, but the plan ended up backfiring and only resulted in his downfall. It's very similar to Greek myths, where when trying to avoid destiny, the characters only end up making it happen. I love this type of plot. I just feel a little sorry for Collin. He sacrificed so much to keep his family safe, and it was all for nothing. His father was captured by demons, and he didn't even know it, and all the people he considers family have been corrupted and turned into malicious demons who want to corrupt him too. Well, he still has his boyfriend, Eddie, but something tells me that soon he will also meet his own downfall on this mission he was sent on. I hope that at least in the end Collin can be with his family, even if in a totally perverted and incestuous way.

@[Gatuno](/user/show/10021894) I mean, can you blame the Grandmaster? From his perspective, faking Collin's death is the best course of action. The irony is indeed delicious. It seems that there is a split between people wanting Collin toe scape and wanting him to succumb (just like with Gil)...most interesting. I hooe that you like Eddie! The next chapter will be all about him!

I always enjoy your stories. I wish I could live in this rubber world you created. Though this chapter brings up a question: what about unwilling/forced conversions. Such as Justin. Call me devious but seeing him aware and conscious again just before he gets converted would have been hawt. Seeing the raw emotion on his face as he tries to get away while the rubber hood gets closer and seals him away.
